Through vivid, layered strokes, Refraction invites viewers to consider the fluidity of self in an age of digital filters, cultural lenses, and political discourse. Rather than presenting a fixed likeness, Smit’s series offers a spectrum of coexisting realities, challenging us to reconsider not just what we see, but how we see.

It is an artist showcase for Lionel Smit on over a decade of exhibiting with Everard Read, spanning from 2013 to 2023. Writers: Alettia Vorster Chisin, Andrew Lamprecht, Charles Shields, Kayang Gagiano, Michaela Clark and Prof Ernst van der Wal.

This week, Lionel Smit released his new book, Transitions with Giclée Print, from the Lionel Smit Studio.

It is an artist showcase for Lionel Smit on his four solo exhibitions with Uitstalling Art Gallery, spanning from 2020 to 2023. Writers: Andrew Lamprecht, Danny Weckx, Ellen Agnew, Kayang Gagiano and Prof Ernst van der Wal.

This week, Lionel Smit released two exclusive limited edition print from the Lionel Smit Studio.

The first edition Untitled is a smaller print made available directly from the studio and the other edition is a newly released Charity print Reform where, as part of the Lionel Smit Studio giving back programme.

Art enthusiasts will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Smit's captivating world of oil paintings and bronze sculptures, where the concept of veiling and the unseen takes centre stage.
